We followed Ken to the ASEE conference in Honolulu in June 2007. We began the trip with 4 days in Hilo where we spent a couple of days at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. We also went snorkeling (got up close and personal with a turtle) and visited the local farmers market. We rode along the Kohala Coast and observed the "beaches" -- accidentally descended to a nudie beach. The kids were a bit shocked. We tasted some wine at the southernmost winery in the USA.

The last days of the trip were spent in Honolulu, mostly on Waikiki Beach. Ken had to attend his conference most of the time, but managed to take off time to go to the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor, Germaine's Luau, and outrigger canoeing with Amanda. Somehow we ended up on Waikiki Beach every day and both Amanda and Ashton learned to surf. The people at the board rental company ended up knowing us by name!

We loved Hawaii! and can't wait to go back.
